WHO IS MOMENT SKINCARE

My name is Janece Moment.

Almost 15 years ago, caused by what I believe to be a reaction to synthetic hormones (depo-provera birth control), my skin went from healthy, young, and glowing to thin, scaling, red, angry, covered in acne and besieged with painful hot flaring. I had developed severe case of rosacea. There are four subtypes of rosacea. I had all four.

My skin complications included:

• severe acne vulgaris
• thickening and swelling of the skin on my nose while the rest of my skin turned papery thin
• seborrheic dermatitis
• telangiectasia (dilation of facial blood vessels)
• ocular rosacea
• facial flushing accompanied by an intense burning sensation

There’s no hiding a severe or advanced case of rosacea. It is disfiguring, painful and debilitating (I couldn’t go to large gatherings because it would cause painful flaring… even movie theaters!). Like many people with skin conditions like rosacea, I became depressed. I went to a dermatologist who prescribed me mega-doses of tetracycline which made me sick both immediately and long-term (destroying the healthy balances of good bacteria in my digestive system… causing a string of additional health problems). I felt and looked horrible. I wanted to hide and never leave my home.

One morning, I couldn’t bring myself to swallow the 6 horse pills of tetracycline any more. I began researching and studying rosacea, skincare, ingredients, anecdotal stories from other sufferers, medical journal articles… anything I could get my hands on.

The next three to four years were filled with a multitude products and regimens tried… desperately searching to uncover my own personal cure. Certain products would work for a time and then suddenly become ineffective or, worse, cause further progression of my rosacea. I can’t begin to know the amount of dollars I spent on crèmes, serums, cleansers, remedies, and lotions.

About two years ago, I decided to stop trying premade commercial products and began looking to alternative sources, including making my own. I was my own guinea pig and it took a lot of trial and error. Using EWG's SkinDeep Database to assisting me in choosing my ingredients, I found a supplier for my skincare ingredients and manufacture that were all high quality, natural, organic, and vegan.

I am proud of this skincare for sensitive/troubled skin like mine own. Although it was designed for sensitive and troubled skin, it is perfect for everyone. People who do have sensitive skin remind me of the "canary in the coal mine". We sensitive types are the canaries. Those without skin sensitivities should take special note. If ingredients in traditional products cause us to react negatively, it’s a smart idea to "leave the mine immediately" when it comes to these unnatural and often toxic products.

If there is one thing I've learned from my research, it's that there is no one product that will work for every single person. If you have extremely reactive and sensitive skin, are in advanced stages of rosacea, please try a sample first.
